Balut egg, also known as half-hatched duck egg, is a special snack in the border areas between China and Vietnam, such as #Fangchenggang in Guangxi. “Balut egg” in Chinese means “qutou egg”. It refers to “bending head”, vividly depicting the appearance of baby ducks curled up in the eggshell. There's a Chinese saying goes like this: “picking bones in eggs” to describe a person who is very picky and always asks for trouble. You DO find bones in balut egg, but it DOES NOT mean that you are a picky guy.
