Bazhen rice noodles are loved by local foodies in Guangxi. It is said to be a dish in the palace diet of the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) with eight ingredients inside, including oyster sauce, shrimp, mushroom, fish, fish balls, quail eggs, tender meat, squid, etc. The name "Bazhen" means "eight treasures", which is from a famous Chinese saying "like the eight immortals crossing the sea, each one shows his or her special prowess".
